STEG Centrales zijn de meest gangbare vorm van [[Elektriciteitscentrale]] die in Nederland in gebruik zijn.<br />

STEG betekent "Stoom en Gas Turbine".<br />

Er wordt een brandstof verbrand in het gasturbine deel van de installatie. De hete uitlaatgassen worden gebruikt om water te verwarmen naar hoogtemperatuur stoom, die gebruikt wordt om het stoomturbine deel van de centrale aan te drijven. Soms zitten stoom en gas delen van de installatie op dezelfde as, maar dat is geen vereiste.<br />

Het is zeer efficient mogelijk om warmte uit te koppellen uit een STEG centrale. Door de elektrische opwek beperkt te verlagen is het mogelijk veel warmte uit te koppellen om in te zetten in bijvoorbeeld [[Warmtenetten]].<br />
